It is the most consumed liquid in the world, and has been historically around for centuries, enjoyed by all classes of society through the ages. Despite its good taste and ability to secure a good time for those who drink it in large quantities, it also carries some benefits of the aesthetic kind when applied and consumed topically on our skin and hair. Hence, this is why we use it in some of our products such as our soap, Honey I’m Drunk!
The components of beer, namely hops, barley, wheat, and yeast are known to carry essential vitamins and antioxidants, which carry fabulous results for our skin and hair. When it comes to skincare, it is the hops that pack the biggest punch in terms of benefits in helping treat skin aging, eczema, acne, and unbalance of the pigment type. The plant chemicals carry many anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-bacterial and anti-carcinogenic effects. Beer in beauty products has been known to soothe sensitive and irritated skin and as well as improve collagen deposition. The yeast in beer has been known to fight acne and balance the pH level in skin.
In your hair, beer is known to strengthen and increase follicular growth. Malt and hops in beer can make your hair feel thicker and fuller due to the proteins that bind to rough or damaged strands. The sugars in beer strengthen hair’s cuticles and help in reflecting light off your hair, thereby minimizing further damage. Lastly, beer is known to be a deep cleaning agent in hair, and provies anti-bacterial properties too.
It’s a product we have been experimenting with in the past and will continue to do so more in the future with more products. If you google beer in beauty products, there is no deficiency in supplies and it’s an ingredient we are excited to be working with more going forward. Raise a glass to our soaps!
